Numb with grief, Alan does not care much for the break-in, but upon discovery of an absent father in Declan’s life, he expresses sympathy for Declan.
Despite the differences in their social appearance, Alan and Declan find solace in their chance meeting; Alan and Joan, grieving for their losses, unbeknownst to each other, are leading parallel lives.
