Absolutely brilliant man. I loved the concept and I always envy people who have the patience to shoot great stop-motion videos like this. I really loved the sound effects you had complimenting the video at the beginning and I would have liked to have seen it the entire way through the film. Sound is something many stop motion creators leave out and I think, because of the act of trying to replicate animation, sound is somewhat crucial despite the framerate.

All in all, really solid work and a great story. Well done.

Thankyou for your comment. I did try to put more sound effects into the video, but found that it jolted the flow rather than added to it. Your right though, it adds a sense of it being real rather than just having music played over photographs. The sounds were all thought of after though, so hopefully, if I make another stop motion film, Il keep that in mind.

i think you have a great photography but for stop motion i dont like the autofocus effect.
  • Joshua Stocker 1 year ago
    Thankyou
The whole thing was done with manual focus though.
I choose to let the focus fade in and out to give it a more dreamy feel.
  • Linterna Studio 1 year ago
Is a really good work . i judge the focus thing because i made that mistake in a past proyect, but now i know that was your intention.

    Thankyou for sharing it here

    Wow!

Would you share what equipment you used in the shoot? Camera, lens, lens adapter?

Absolutely love this film; very artfully done.
  • Joshua Stocker 1 year ago
    Thankyou very much
Actualy this wasnt shot with a video camera and lens adapter. I shot it on a Nikon D80, and the film is made from 7,000 photographs. This is why there is no real life sound (the footsteps and background noise were added in editing)

You know mate, i watched this and thought (because it is so beautiful) that the internet has really come of age now, if people who are ordinarily MUCH more creative and sensitive (as you clearly are) than technical are here USING it as the medium to express this creativity.

It's great to see Vimeo providing the platform in such a user friendly way without the technology getting in the way or obscuring the work).

It's an outstanding peace, i really enjoyed the expressive, reflective melody of it.. :] Peace out
