1. Words Don't Mean The Same Thing To You...
My friend Zara and I made this music video of one of her songs using a Panasonic Lumix LX-3 point-and-shoot still camera that has 720p video capabilities. We shot it in my livingroom then did the initial composite/colour in Shake 4.1.1 and then final composite, sound synch and edit in Final Cut Pro 6.0.5.

Simple but effective. :)

Awesome video. Nice idea with the multiclip. Really subtle. I agree it's hard to believe this was done with a P&S. Zara has a lovely voice, wish her all the best.

Wow, great example of what the LX3 can do! Were the vocals recorded using the LX3 as well? Does 'sound synch' refer to synching music with vocals in this case?
  •
  • Ed Araquel 11 months ago
We synched the video to the recorded music that Zara had done earlier in a recording studio...

    Excellent video!

But what Panasonic says on their site (no 702p):

    Motion Picture
    4:3 Aspect Ratio: 640 x 480 pixels 30 fps, 320 x 240 pixels 30 fps/10 fps 16:9 Aspect Ratio: 848 x 480 pixels 30 fps

    Am I missing something?
  •
  • Ed Araquel 10 months ago
Weird. Well, it definitely spits out 720p and DPreview says it does as well in their review: dpreview.com/reviews/panasonicdmclx3/
  •
  • Super Gab plus 10 months ago
Yes it does 720p no doubt.

You did a great job! Really nice! I wonder how you did your lighting. ;-)

Super Gab: Easy...giant softbox behind Zara in both shots and medium softbox in front for the front lit shot and that's it...Bob's your uncle. :)

Sorry, but I have to make this silly question (I'm new to this videos editing stuff and final cut pro) but I would like to ask you how did you saved the movie?
Every time I save my videos from final cut pro I always cut two black stripes, one above the movie and the other bellow, and you don't have it in yours... If you have time, and if it's easy to explain, can you please tell me how to do it well?

    Thanks. :)

Very nice, but you needed more takes. It would have been much much nicer if you had different angles of her, so the video was not so monotonous with the two interleaved takes. Still, impressive shooting with an LX3.
