TIRANAH, CABARET HIP-HOP - Dani Pannullo Dancetheatre Co.
Tiranah is a show that uses the genre of Cabaret. The show is performed by three artists: Dnoe, a black-female hip-hop singer from Guinea, Itxaso A Cano and Elias Aguirre, both magnificent dancers.
This is a contemporary version of Cabaret, which is how Dani Pannullo intended his interpretation to be conveyed in 21st century, although he prefers to call it Hip-Hop Theatre. In Tiranah Cabaret the sarcastic songs about life in Berlin in the 30's are replaced by the new urban rhythm of denunciation of our time, that is hip-hop.
The compositions in this show created by Dnoe bring to light messages of protest and rebellion and describe sensitive issues that people have to live with, such as abuse, pacifism, the rights of women and solidarity in the world. These issues are explored carefully and through new perspectives.
The dancers experiment with new styles and work close to the limits know in dance today.
Itxaso performs using an array of skills such as gymnastic style routines performed on a large hanging ring and pole dancing. Elias dances in ways that cross the frontiers that separate contemporary dance and break dance.
In this work Dani Pannullo shows his virtuosity in creating visual poetry and imaginary worlds, but without forgetting his main source of inspiration: the streets.
