Oh, That's Wonderful

Film made for Light Industry's "Crossroads: Tribute to Bruce Conner." Bruce Conner, while not the first artist to work with found film, is probably the most influential found film collagist. His artistry with attention to the sculptural elements of the media as well as his often humorous approach to critiquing culture is an obvious influence on our work.
I was grateful to have the opportunity to make a film in his honor. I managed to scrape this together with a pile of films down in the basement.

Chris Garcia 1 year agoIs that Bruce pictured at the end of the video? It looks like he's either mid- wrecking or mid-salvaging. Very nice tribute, guys. -
Garrett Wesley Gibbons 1 year agoYou know, even without the clips that are say, more pictorial, the film scrap clips carry the narrative very strongly. The music of course helps the narrative, but I find this piece disorienting yet really satisfying. Good work, as usual. -
focusmatic 11 months agosame as the title says! -
Deron Williams 11 months agoBruce Conner is great. I did some experiments with found footage after I saw 'A Movie' and some other film called the Mesmerist, by somebody I forget :). -
Gregory Andre 10 months agoAll that beautiful fetishistic film writing and bad splice action... started to verge into Brakhage territory, if you ask me. Big ups! -
Sleekit Cuts 10 months agoNice work, some great connections made between shots & wicked editing. Lost me though when it descended into film ends after 1.50.
