A character made of scraps wonders though the woods until he comes across a sign that will help him discover where he belongs.

This was my senior thesis at Ringling College of Art + Design. I was responsible for everything you see. Music by Cody Cook (codycookmusic.com).

Thank you for watching.

Thank you for watching. I animated in Maya. Rendered with Renderman for Maya and composited using Nuke. I spent about 7 weeks on story and character development and about 28 weeks in production.

Fantastic work! You have the heart of a true storyteller. You managed to create a character that we could relate and feel great affection for... and did it all in two minutes. Wow! Great editing. Love how you resolved the story at the end. Keep it up. Looking forward to seeing more work from you. What are you working on now?
  • Robert Showalter 7 months ago
Thank you so much, what an incredible compliment. I just started a new job at MoonBot Studios doing some R&D on a future IP. Once I get settled, however, I'd like to work with a few former classmates on an animated side project of our own.

You are an excellent storyteller! I read into it as being a strong piece on self discovery, maybe even self actualization. I liked when he ripped off the tape label!
Visually it was tasteful and well composed.
  • Robert Showalter 7 months ago
I completely agree- I had always intended on having the trees subtly animated, unfortunately I had to place it on the back burner for the sake of meeting my deadline. I will try to improve upon the static backgrounds in future projects. Thank you for watching!
