The Kenyan Mombasa coast is filled with holiday resorts. And every day the beaches are filled with tourist and sunbathers who are constantly approached by Beach operators.
Beach operators are registered sales men and women, who are licensed to sell every thing from fresh coconut milk and wooden carvings to booking you on to Scuba Diving trips and Safaris.
To many tourist, they are consider as nuisances, who are just after money. And to be honest when i was first approached I thought the same thing. But after a little to and throwing, I convinced a few to sit with me and tell me why they do what they do. PAID off course. My conversation with them totally changed my mind on why they do what they do.
Talking and filming with them was very much off the cuff. It was a windy day and i really wasnt really prepared. I tried to capture audio as best as i could. But having played it all back, i see i still have a lot to learn.
