PRODUCED by SILVER BULLET PRODUCTIONS
silverbullet.co.za

After receiving hundreds of entries for the Back to School sales
promotion, Billabong officially announced the winner as 15 year old Brett
Gregory, from Sandton, Johannesburg whose prize included the chance to
invite two friends down to the home of Billabong in J-Bay, to partake in
the all-inclusive Billabong Boarding Challenge.
The concept of the challenge was to partner the three groms with three
Billabong Professional athletes across surf, skate and wake and then run a
series of learn to surf, skate and wake lessons followed by a competition
in all three disciplines to announce an overall winner.
Last weekend then, saw professional wakeboarder; Shaun Faccio, skater;
Christie Wiehahn and surfer; Dale Staples partner up with the three groms,
fresh off the plane from Jo'Burg.
What followed was a an incredible weekend of boardriding as three young
boys were exposed first hand to the boardsports lifestyle and ultimately
were taught to surf, skate and wakeboard like pro's, by pro's.
What was equally impressive was the humbling of the professional’s
themselves who too were exposed to sports outside their respective
disciplines, further emphasizing the abilities of these professional
athletes.
From learning to surf on the infamous waves of St Francis Bay,
wakeboarding behind the Billabong wake boat on the Kromme River and
skating on the portable Element mini ramp, the groms’s were given a rare
insight into the lives and careers of three of the country’s top
competitive athletes.
Not only were Brett, Luke and Ryan taught the necessary skills, direct
from the pro’s themselves, afforded the privilege of sharing a house with
these Billabong team riders for an entire weekend, they were also given
the opportunity to compete against each other in authentic competitive
scenarios for R2000 in overall prize money and hosts of other prizes from
Von Zipper, Element, Kustom and Nixon.
Every waking moment from the entire weekend was captured on film, to
ultimately be edited and featured as a 30 min TV show scheduled to be
aired on Vuzu TV.
