do you really think the image is better here than on your old videos ? i feel like the image is less bright, and there is more vignetting now. have you compared both set ups (old and new achro and condenser) side to side ?
yeah i compared both setups and opteka+condenser magnify more so with HV30 zoomed all the way out you would get less vignetting but, you were also loosing more "Field of view". With this new lenses, you get almost a full field of view, 22mmx34mm when i measured it.
Allright, thanks for answering. On that shoot, were you zoomed all the way in as you possibly could, or could you have zoom more to go past the vignetting area.
I was not zoom in at all on most of the shots, with current set up using a f1.4 lens you only have to zoom about 1/8th of the total zoom to get rid of vignette.
I'm just new to jehu's videos, but I have to agree that the vignetting is visible (though subtle). I could easily make an AE project to compensate, but in-camera correction is always better. I'll take vignetting over color aberration any day.
I REALLY REALLY want to get this, but what is the difference in the thread size when ordering? I want to order the Jag35Pro and the Canon FD 50mm f1.4 SSC. Will I need to order a ground glass screen too? Or does that come with the Jag35Pro? Sorry, I am new to this, but I am amazed at what it can do. Thanks!
Thread size all depends on your camcorder, hv20 and hv30 have 43mm threads, Hf11 and a lot of other small camcorders have 37mm threads, If you're unsure about your camera do a search on google or sometimes the camera will say in the front of the lens.
No need to buy extra screens adapter comes with one already.
I pretty much only use 5 micron screens, other grits are nice but require more set up conditions to produce good results, I always shoot unplanned and on the go.
I was amazed by you DOF and I am interested.. but I have some questions..sorry im new bout this..
what do you mean you recommend a 5M screen? What are screen types for? and how long is the shipping, I live in Ontario Canada... Thanks
Q: Whats the difference between 5micron, 15micron and 20micron screens?
A: This is the size on the grain, it creates a slightly different image, bigger grain like the 20 micro, creates a more film like image but it looses more light and creates a soft image. Smaller grain like the 5 micron creates a very sharp image and looses very little light but does not handle harsh lighting very well, it hotspots. There are benefits to using any of them but in my experience the brighter sharper 5 micron is easier to use. You can see image samples here : web.me.com/jehug/JAG35.com/Demo.html
Let me get this straight. I still don't completely understand all of this adapter nonsense (to me at least :). If I order the Jag35 Pro (with Nikon mount I guess), it will have the achromatic lens and condenser built in, so I would not have to buy one separately.

PS, This video converted me to Jag35ism!
