Description.....well, it´s a video tutorial about design sketching. It shows my process in making a decent car sketch using very simple tools.
The video was shoot last spring at UID, Umeå, Sweden.
We decided to shoot of my sketchclasses as an experiment, just to see if this was a good way to produce a material that both would educate and inspire student to keep working hard.
The intention was from the beginning to make a free video, and depending on the reception of this first one, we have a quite a few sketches waiting for the camera.
I hope that you will enjoy this tutorial and that it will help you to become a better designer and artist.
All feedback is most welcome!
Best regards,
Mikael Lugnegård

Great sketch, awesome music, and super awesome words. Cant wait for more. And I'm sure no one will find your creative design process, boring :)
A big thanks from India.
thanks
I just translated Stina's opinion :). And before I comment on it, I would just like to say that I have just started sketching car so designing and rendering cars is the next milestone for me which is far away in the future.
So I think the duration of the video worked out perfectly for me. As I was not just staring at the screen trying to adapt Mikael's every stroke, but rather I was sketching with him (little quick thumbnails).
I must have filled up about couple of dozen pages in an hour. Because it felt like I was actually sitting with a lecturer and sketching along with him. A quality lecture like this, with great sketching, music and words of wisdom, any shorter than an hour will be unjust :).
An hour long lecture really helped me draw consistently and patiently. And I think it shouldn't be cut any shorter.
Sorry Stina, just my two cents :)
hats off .. go Umea (hehe )
Mehek
But I didn´t really understand that you "know what Umea is all about", could you please be more specific?
We are already planning video 2 & 3 since the feedback has been so good.
A very Merry Christmas and a super New Year to you. I hope the new year is more prosperous than the ones gone by :)
Videos 2 and 3 :D, awesome news. You got any tentative date of release ?
A Happy New Year to all you guys.
There´s no release dates set yet for the upcoming videos....just sometime this spring.
Venlig hilsen
Lasse
I can't thank you enough for this video. Truly you have inspired me. Ive watched this video a number of times, you have a great voice and very good advice. This video was very entertaining.
Cheers!
Can we have something on
1. interior design rendering...IP and door trims
2. the tutorial uploaded by you talks about a detailed rendering. Can we have something from you which can be a much faster for the ideation stage..say 15 for a concept.
3. sketching in alias autostudio..using a wacom pen/ cintiq.
another query...the way u marked out the silouhette in the initial stage on the sketch is something very new but I believe it needs a lot of practise for getting the correct proportion.
It´s not very likely that I will be doing a interior rendering tutorial, just because I´m an "exterior guy".
The next video will be about ideation and markers sketching.
Photoshop stuff will come, trust me!
thanks.You are awesome.
i like you drawing car, I start to study the drawing car.
this video has the very big help to me.
I come from China, this video has help to me .
I like you drawing up the background shadow very much, also imitates is drawing up, but the effect as if does not have you seems better, did not know that what you do have better suggestion to this?
