This was my first project, that I cut while living in Tokyo after I bought my first computer - a 550mhz titanium powerbook, with AE 5.5.

I shot this in India in 2001 - I was there mainly as a soundguy for my friend Viraj Singh, who is now DPing 35mm films and music videos in Mumbai - I shot this bit by bit throughout my travels with a little TRV-900 handycam I brought along. This 'short' was how I first learned After Effects and FCP, just playing around in the evenings after work while living in Japan in 2001-2003. The sound mix was something I really enjoyed doing.

At the time I checked around, and most festivals had their limit for "short films" at 30 minutes, so that's how long I made this. Nowadays, I would have made this into something way shorter, just with today's attention span. At the time, I was way into making this thing, and I wasn't concerned with length, and edited with pretty much novice skills and sensibilies.

The festival at the end, the Maha Kumbh Mela in Allahabad, was at the time the largest gathering of humanity on record.
