Over the past four decades Gary has been a trusted advisor to numerous family and owner-managed businesses across Western Canada. He finished a successful 40 year career as a chartered accountant and business advisor providing professional advice in the practice areas of taxation, strategic, operational, financial, and retirement planning. During this time, Gary developed a speciality practice, adding value to his family enterprise clients, through a holistic approach to family, business and ownership issues.
Gary has worked with a multitude of entrepreneurial families ranging from medium to large manufacturing and wholesale companies to owner-managed companies in a variety of sectors of the economy. He has assisted the ownership and leadership teams with developing structures and processes for business strategy meetings, succession planning, next generation leadership development, creating independent advisory boards and family meeting structures.
Gary has a long history in teaching seminars and courses on tax planning, entrepreneurship, financial planning and retirement planning at the University of Alberta, Banff School of Advanced Management and Grant MacEwan College.
Gary holds a Commerce degree from the University of Alberta and possesses a number of designations as a Chartered Accountant. In addition, he is also a trained facilitator in the RoadMap Course for Entrepreneurial Families.
