Hi, we went on a huge search to find a midwife and place to give birth that we were happy with. It wasn't as easy as I had imagined, firstly due to language barrier and secondly .. although the birthhouses were very lovely and harmonious .. it was hard to imagine really feeling comfortable enough to go through such a big thing in them. It was quite strange really, a bit like looking for a nice aunties house to go through the most intense experience of your life in, because thats what it is, a place to go and give birth in a natural surrounding with women who can assist you in drug-free natural labour. It is a great service as not all births need a hospital. You can only give birth there if everything in the lead up is fine and baby is in the right position and after 37 weeks and all your tests are good, so it certainly doesnt replace a hospital and doctors who are a godsend in any births with complications. We are hoping for the best though, and would very much like to give birth naturally and in a relaxed atmosphere with minimal plugs and tubes and beeping things. So, the search continues to find a midwife or birthing sister or someone that we feel will be the perfect one to guide us through the journey.
