LOS ANGELES -- Ed Forchion, better known as the NJ Weedman, joined us live for Trentonian Live! in Langhorne, Pa., Thursday morning, but he did it from the confort of his own home, well, his own marijuana grow room, in California.
Using UStream's live video streaming capabilities, the Weedman was broadcasting himself from California and we picked up the feed on Trentonian.com. With a cell phone set on speaker phone, we conducted an interview to discuss all things weed.
Forchion talked about his experience running a legal medical marijuana dispensary in Losa Angeles for the last three years, and he discussed the difference between California's handling of medical marijuana legalization compared to what New Jersey plans to implement.
We also discussed his coming court case, where he plans to defend himself against charges that he had a pound of marijuana in the trunk of his car here in New Jersey. Forchion isn't denying he had the drugs. He plans to put the law on trial using a jury nullification tactic, where he hopes to convince a jury to find him not guilty because they, like he, believe marijuana should be legal.
He also talked about his plans to run for office again in New Jersey, something he's done numerous times, as the candidate for the Legalization of Marijuana Party for an 8th legislative district Assembly seat. This is the same district that saw Carl Lewis facing a legal challenge over his residency status because he voted in California. Forchion may find himself in a similar position because he voted in California too -- for the outright legalization of marijuana in the state, which was a recently narrowly defeated ballot measure.
