CoopeTárcoles RL is a cooperative of artisanal fishers who practice and promote sustainable fishing methods in an effort to conserve the local marine ecosystem and the long-term vitality of the local economy. To this end, CoopeTárcoles encourages its fishing community to comply with responsible and accountable fishing regulations according to their Responsible Fishing Code. As the vast majority of residents of Tárcoles depend on some aspect of fishing for their sustenance or livelihoods, the cooperative strives to preserve the long term sustainability of these resources and establish strong ties between local fishers, NGOs, and government officials in order to further local development and conservation goals.
