You have lost all respect when you mentioned "Stay away from the computer".

do you have any idea how uncreative our world would be today if it weren't for computers?

heck, you wouldn't even be able to make this Creative video.

The computer is a major inspiration for people because it connects everyone through the internet and shows one sights and experiences one wouldn't have other wise come across.

The Computer is much more important to me than anything mentioned on this list, and im sure millions of creative users on vimeo agree.

oh the irony of making a living being creative using a computer, then preaching that people should use it less.

such an Awesomely creative Computer made kinetic typography video....with major contradiction.

    im disappointed.
  • Nate Atkinson 8 months ago
I think the point was to not "live" on the computer. I think lots of people spend too much time infront of the computer wasting time (facebook, web surfing, etc...). I think you're not getting the point.
  • Tyssul Patel 8 months ago
Yeah, you missed the point. There is more to this world than the 15 inch screen we stare into everyday. Look outside, take a walk, there's this thing called nature, for instance. I think thats what he means.
  • Norbert 8 months ago
Actually, it says "Get away from the computer", huge difference. Your mind needs to detach and do other things in order to stay healthy and creative.
  • Claudio Paredes 8 months ago
i agree with the answers above.
  • Timothy Allen plus 8 months ago
I make a living being creative in front of a computer, and while I agree that I can't make any of the imagery I produce without my computer, if I am detached from everything else for too long I lose focus and inspiration. Sometimes I have to step AWAY for a while, get a fresh perspective, fresh air and knew ideas before coming back and finishing my work.

Essentially this was a much longer explanation of the previous responses, but so be it.
  • rodrigo 7 months ago
Agree with the replies. Creativity takes place in your head. Production takes place on your computer.

I think you're confusing the two things. Computers are a tool for making your ideas come to life. the point is to spend more time thinking, less time doing.
  • omar hesham 7 months ago
    i disagree.

when im away from the computer im not thinking of being "creative", i become creative while doing.

when im on a computer i am constantly discovering new things and that helps my creativity.
  • Kev Gilmour 7 months ago
I think you are still missing the point Omar. You can be creative, and find inspiration via the computer, but it shouldn't be your only source.

Try getting away from your computer to work on ideas with a pen & a pad. Go for a walk and clear your head, sketch some ideas out in the park, the pub or on the bus. Then go back to your computer with a different perspective to produce something new.

A computer is a tool. Nothing more.
  • Roxy Velez 7 months ago
computer is the tool that we use for "doing".

    I agree with Omar 100%

"when im away from the computer im not thinking of being "creative", i become creative while doing."

maybe if u are a painter u can b creative without a computer.

Im not saying the computer is you. but it is the main tool used by You at the result piece. IT shows the creative idea you have in your mind. And creativity usually evolves while creating
  • Paul Griswold plus 6 months ago
@Omar - funny, when I am asked to give a lecture at a university one of the biggest points I make to students is - stop putting all your energy into computers. I get demo reels all the time from people who clearly think they should focus all their efforts on the computer. They're great button pushers - but the fact is, I can hire a button pusher overseas for pennies, so why would I hire a button pusher for thousands of dollars?

If you are serious about creative, the computer should be the LAST place you go. Take classes in drawing, painting, sculpture, film and photography. Learn film history, art history, architecture, etc. Study science - learn why things work and look the way they do.

One of the most inspirational and creative things I've ever done was to rebuild a 1977 Toyota Land Cruiser from the frame up - including the engine. It has nothing to do with my job, but I stretched my mind and learned a lot about mechanics, sculpture (body work), painting, etc.

Get out and live in the world. Or, you'll just be another button pusher my company sends rejection letters to on a daily basis.
  • Chris Hukill plus 5 months ago
I agree with the replies. Too often I find myself with a creative block, and when I take a break from the computer, take a walk for a whle, and then sit back down, the creativity if flowing like a river.
  • Komboa 4 months ago
The computer is a tool, like a book or a pencil. Yes you need it to literally create (depending on your craft), but NO you don't need it to be creative or conceive creative ideas. Step away from it (as he suggests) and you might see what he means...Great piece.
  • Gel Featherweight 2 months ago
Maybe this video is not for Omar. I'm just sayin...
  • Digital Will 1 month ago
    Omar is either:
    1. not the sharpest knife in the drawer.
    or
    2. just trying to get attention by being the ONLY one on here who doesn't understand what the video was saying.
  • Bruno Fujii 1 month ago
Come on, let's all face it: Omar didn't mean it — but he will realize it one day in the future.

Lovely animation! I thought perhaps it could have had a bit of a stronger ending, and it seemed to lose some polish at the end. I suppose by that point you had spent too much time in front of the computer and not enough time abiding by the suggestions in the video! ;-)

  • Jeff D. Johnson plus 8 months ago
its posted on Vimeo, available for embed which means you can post it on blogs, social networks and on your website and you can stream it in HD and show it on a projector for many many people. What other needs could a download fix?

Having it all direct back to here gives the artist the credit he/she deserves. No download=still totally able to share. This is how you found out about this great video!

  • Rene van Belzen 8 months ago
I suppose, while most of us understand the why, actually the how to do these things in your own situation is what makes you creative, or prepared to do creative stuff after having solved how to do some of these things as a warm-up exercise.
  •
  • Raccoon Production 8 months ago
Good idea. I don't agree with the computer thing, and maybe also with the lot of rest. I'm the most creative when I should be sleeping. And that gives me insomnia, but also my best ideas.
The music could be better, but on jamendo, it's hard to get the pearl...

Everything else is awesome though, cool animations, and good advice too ;)
