The bark art cloth is prepared from the Kombou tree which is indigenous to the Lake Sentani region, West Papua. Here we see Agus Ongge, a Master Artisan showing us how he debarks the Kombou tree by hand. After that the bark is soaked for a few weeks, then pounded until flat and dried in the sun before being painted, using charcoal, lime and ochre.
