Sounds pretty good. On my macbook speakers bright and a little harsh. Buy I'm surprised how good the guitar sounds. I would like to hear if the NTG-3 is thicker.

I am very very impressed and Im a tough critic. Now I want to buy the NTG-2! Did you make any audio modifications or tweaking in post production or is that original?

I bought a Rode NTG-2, a Rode 10' boompole, a Rode WS-6 windshield & a 30' Audio Technica XLR cable - my decision was based mostly on THIS video 'cause the sound's that impressive. Problem, though: I'm not getting the same quality sound as in the video - the subjects sound muffled, and the mic's picking up a lot of surrounding noise outside its pattern. What am I doing wrong? I'm running the NTG-2 into a Canon HV30 thru a Beacktek XLR adapater. Can anyone help? Thank you!

  • I bought this mic and really regret it. I don't use it on a boom pole but in hand held situations. Its extremely sensitive and the slightest rub against the body of the mic pics up on the sound. When I attach a plug on wireless transmitter, the slightest movement ends up on your audio. I regret buying it. The Audio Technica AT897 has been a much better mic for me. If anyone wants the NTG-2, contact me. Only used once (tested the day I got it) and has not been used since.

Why didn't you do even a little research?
The NTG 1 to 3 series mics are shotguns, not handhelds.
Never meant for hand held work, having said that, as a location sound recordist, ( for 30+ years), I have indeed used the NTG 1 as a hand mic in the odd situation, and it performs fine, (IF you know what you are doing).
