TIONG BAHRU is the tenth in the acclaimed CIVIC LIFE series by Joe Lawlor and Christine Molloy. Shot on 35mm widescreen in the heritage estate, market and hawker centre of Tiong Bahru in Singapore, the film stars over 150 volunteers drawn from the community.
The film premiered at the National Museum of Singapore in 2010 and has since been seen around the UK, at film festivals in Rotterdam, Dublin and Lisbon, and was seen at the Sydney Film Festival and the Australian Centre of Moving Image in Melbourne in June 2011. It has also been selected to take part in the Travelling Sydney Film Festival, screening throughout the latter half of 2011.
These production images by Samantha Tio and Alecia Neo accompany the soundtrack of the film, by Singaporean composer Kavin Hoo.
