I believe the ACAMPADAS have shown us that in Catalonia and Madrid we share the same values and we basically want the same: Live a good life! :)

From Madrid. The guy tries to be objective and open to show all opinions... but the mere fact of the subject, the title and documentary is already in favor of the separatists.

As always, some things said are true and some are not. Everyone tells his side of the story and many lies and manipulations are there.

Essentially, every country comes from military conquests of some kingdoms over the neighbours. Sometimes there is no assimilation. In all 5 continents. There are regional and separatist conflicts absolutely everywhere.

Even inside Catalonia (or the Basque Country) there are small regions who dont want to be part of them. And, most of all... the population is divided. So, when you say "catalans", please say "separatists", because half of them want to be part of Spain and the war will come for this fact.

I suggest you stop helping the separatist propaganda. They are wealthy now in Catalonia and they are spending a fortune in international propaganda to support them.

Please go to: Northern Ireland, Scotland, Wales, Quebec, Puerto Rico, Texas, Flanders, Bavaria, Padania, Corsica, Alsace, Lorraine, Bretagne and etcetera etcetera etcetera all over the world.

Catalonia has been a region of Spain for 500 years and before was part of the Kingdom of Aragon. Never independent. About the different language and culture... we have many languages, dialects and cultures like in every country of the world. In Valencia or Mallorca they also speak varieties of catalan and they want to be part of Spain, so that is not the problem.

Please no manipulation because we will end up in a terrible civil war such as in Yugoslavia.

Thank you stupid politicians. You do this only for the money and educate children in this shit for your purposes.

Let me answer your comments on the objectivity of the documentary's producer. When you say that the mere fact of the title, subject and documentary are in favor of the separatists, you are certifying the accuracy of the documentary's argument. You are saying that Spain don't want to hear about this issue, that it is a taboo topic. So, it must be true that democratic culture in Spain is fragile. Certainly not all Catalans are separatists, but they also appear in the report (Feria de Abril in Barcelona).
If you feel that the documentary is pro-separatist, it will be because it tries to answer the question "why is increasing the wish for independence among the Catalans?". The documentary tries to answer it OBJECTIVELY. But Spain doesn't want to hear the question. I think that there is no manipulation or lies. If you, who seems clever, has not changed one iota your opinion after watching the documentary, we can't expect Spain to improve the relationship towards Catalonia, and his respect for their language and culture, and the fiscal defficit.
The only way out is independence.

One more thing. I am from Madrid as I said, and honestly, within Spain, Barcelona is my favorite city and Barceloneses are the ones with whom I get along better and find more things in common when I go abroad and meet other Spaniards. Madrid and Barcelona get along and like each other more than what the separatist politicians want. We like each other, but this SHIT of political conflict will hurt us very very badly.

    Hello Mario,

I believe it's not a matter of liking/disliking. Many catalans as you insistently label as 'separatists' simply want to have their 'own' state where their culture/language is preserved and looked after, in the same way that they want their money to be more 'locally' managed(that does not necessarily mean it will be better/worse managed than now).
If there happens to be a catalan state, that does not mean you have to stop being friends with the people you like, you can have french, german, colombian friends...I can't see the problem here. Future Spain and Catalonia can be brother states, they share so much, why would they hate each other?

Also I just can't believe that you take for granted that there will be a civil war. Why would that happen? We are talking about a democratic decision here. Who would want a war? Separatists?I've never heard a single of them claiming that. Non-separatists catalans?Never heard of either. Spanish people? I sure hope they don't.
Also from my point of view I believe it's a bit insulting to say that it's all separatist propaganda. Haven't you read that the banned polls were voluntarily organized and managed by regular people (not politicians), even if there was no legal support whatsoever from institutions? These volunteers are brainwashed then? They do propaganda too? Maybe they try to make this into a better place and fight for their beliefs. Maybe they just want the right to decide for themselves, which is so far not legal in this matter and state.
I also believe there are a few historical errors in your comments, but maybe this is not the place to discuss them.
Finall I agree with you that this documentary is biased towards catalan independence, that I do :)

The Spaniards take 300 years trying to make us believe that we are Spanish. And they still have to remember every day!

    Freedom for Catalonia!

    Bye Spain.

Let me say that you have done a great job.
I think historically forgot to mention the birth of both languages, and the reason for their differences and similarities.
(In short, why Catalan is richer, since most learned comes from the Latin, and Spanish is more common, as vulgar comes from the Latin more or spoken by the lower layers). Without detracting from any language, but the story is there to not ignore.
    --------------------------------------------------------------
