NOTE: for optimal viewing performance, please consider downloading the video.

a time lapse journey by car from los angeles to san francisco, while twitter postings from the same day serve as a news ticker.

in this sense, time, as experienced in the film, moves forward on two levels: the actual travel that is recorded on film while the twitter postings provide an additional register.

it was shot on may 30, 2008 and edited a few days ago.

All thinks that bring to light the parallel and spatial elements of our lives are wonderful. Chronology is just a filter. Thank you.

I like the concept of this video. Time-lapse, then some real time video with radio scan is a nice change up. The tweets crawling on the screen, great idea. Somehow the progres of the haircut in the tweets is what I remember most and I’m not sure why. I just bought the Paris EP by Friendly Fires from the iTunes music store after watching this video. I'm going to check out more of your videos this week.

thank you EVERYONE, HG, JP, M.E. et al. the name of the song is PARIS by friendly fires, though it's the AEROPLANE remix - the original has male vocals.

it's funny about the hair-cut - how others participate in the "drama" of the hair-cut, which is juxtaposed with another person who tweets about receiving "esther's remains in a box."

the mundane meets something quite extraordinary on a more or less equal footing and both have their own real drama.

i love this video. it's hilarious in so many ways. what i found most interesting was being able to ID by style which tweets might belong to who, and also, that some tweets i didn't write totally mirrored thoughts i would have had.

thanks for putting this together christian. the juxtaposition is beautiful. i'm glad you made it safely to SF considering all the texting you were reading :)
