Filmtwist had the pleasure of shooting a traditional Gujurati Indian Wedding in early December. The wedding took place over three days with tons of fun and festivities, starting with the Mehndi ceremony at the residence of the bride in Milpitas, CA. The night was full of fun and laughter with traditional song, dance and Mexican food.
The Sangeet was held at the Jain Temple in Milpitas where there was song and dance performances all night including the traditional Garba dance or dandia raas, which is the dancing with sticks. The night ended up with country line dancing if you can believe it. It was a lot of fun to see a room full of indians in traditional dress attire doing the electric slide with cowboy hats on and having a great time. Now that's cultural diversity!
The wedding festivities concluded with the ceremony and reception being held at the beautiful Silver Creek Country Club in San Jose, CA. Overall the wedding had a fun and upbeat vibe to it. Shachi and Sid made their entrance into the reception dancing to a remixed song of the Black Eye Peas song 'I've gotta feeling' and Aap Jaisa Koi. The entire reception crowded around them in the middle of the dance floor as they boogied away and then joined them for the last minute of the song. Later on the couple performed a dance routine to the club favorite "Cotton-Eye Joe". Dancing continued into the early morning hours.
