Melvin the Magical Mixed Media Machine (or just Melvin the Machine) can be described as a Rube Goldberg machine with a twist. Besides doing what Rube Goldberg's do best - performing a simple task as inefficiently as possible, often in the form of a chain reaction - Melvin has an identity. Actually, the only purpose of this machine is promoting its own identity.

Melvin takes pictures and makes video's of his audience which he instantly uploads to his website, facebook and twitter account. Besides that he makes his own merchandise. All of this within 4 minutes of craziness which you just have to witness yourself.

Very Very cool though i don't really like the cuts to the other cameras. I think it would have been cool all in one take. Or were those used to hide resets if you had to do this in multiple takes do to failures in the system?

Loved watching this. Reminded me of playing the game Mousetrap as a kid. I thought the Jeppe Hein Distance installation at the IMA in Indy was mesmerizing, but this was downright entertaining. Especially loved the little parachutes.

This took a lot of patience and planning...

It's a wonderful Rube Goldberg device, and the planning must have taken ages, so much to get wrong, though I feel the camera pacing and focus made it a little hard to watch.

I don't know why but I dont like it, I think it's too too too long and we can't see all what is happening. Could be better recorded.

Pretty good. Probably would have been a lot better if you'd planned your steadicam moves better and not missed half of the action.

The contraption was brilliant, but there were problems of cutting away too early, or not being able to see the mechanism properly enough. I recognize how difficult it would be to capture.

This is amazing and I absolutely love it. The paratroop dropping is my favorite part. Thanks for this - it's utterly ridiculous and wonderful all at once.

Very ingenious but really, this looks like it was shot in 24p when it should have been done 30p, film look conceit be damned. You're losing a lot of details in fast-moving small objects, especially due to the subsequent pulldown to 30 fps performed by Vimeo (which is probably 2:3 rather than 2:3:3:2).
