Awesome stuff. Lets get some nice content aware video in CS6.

P.S. I sent a bug report about timecode in CS 5.5 (and CS5 for that matter), figured I would bring it to your personal attention.
  • Thanks for submitting. Definitely helps when we look at what to prioritize etc.

    That's a great feature.

Not perfect. But I get the idea. Can't wait for next release with fix. :)
  • It's definitely an effect to play with at this point as the stabilizer was meant for an entirely different purpose. It is fantastic though when users take the technology in new directions and foster ideas for innovation.

And if you remember first versions of MoKey (like 10 years ago or so) they did better job comparing to AE CS 5.5 does now.

I understand that this was unplanned revelation but results are so bad it wasn't worth mentioning at all. I love adobe products, I use Photoshop and AE all the time, but I can't help noticing that most of new features are hardly usable on daily basis on wide range of applications, it feels a lot like beta work rather than magic (and in all promo videos it does looks/works like magic)
  • We are such fans of Mocha that we put it in the box! (check your AE directory) Makes it simple to also upgrade to Mocha Pro.

I think any new technology should be looked at from what it can AND can't do, then use that knowledge to get an idea of what you can do with it creatively. Showing how that technology is used for something completely different than its intent is just food for thought - nothing more. IF it can be used practically for something - all the better.

I will argue though that using a planar tracker vs. synthesize edges is an apples to oranges comparison. Mocha was DESIGNED to do object removal - warp stabilizer was not.

As for the rest of your comment - I can't speak for PS (Im the AE PM), but from an AE perspective we hear from users all the time that there is real utility and value on a daily basis from new features. Ultimately though - the decision is yours wether we have crossed that line and delivered, and you get to vote with your wallet.

I agree with Vladimir. But it's nice to see the possibilities Warp Stabilizer. Especially hacking it, in order to use it for something it wasn't design for.

I love how naive the after effects team is..."content aware fill for video" ...please we've called it Monet..mokey...and so many other names for years now ..whats next Nodal based composting was your idea?
  • I think you are missing the point. Just thought it was cool how someone (a user!) hacked a technology to use it for something it was never designed to do. Never claimed that we invented nor even intended the technology for that. If you are referring to Mocha by imagineer - we like it so much that we put it in the box!

Is the point that even with the CS5 "rewrite" that your compositor is still the slowest one on the market?
