This July, 15 young riders will set out on a journey biking 300 km over three 10,000 Himalayn passes to explore first-hand perspectives on climate change, as told to them by the Bhutanese people on the ground—farmers, monks, foresters, and conservationists. The inaugural Bhutan Ride for Climate offers these intrepid youth an exciting cross-cultural expedition across a country committed to carbon neutrality and gross national happiness.
Cycle to the Summit is their story...a seminal film illustrating that the health of our planet is in the hands of our youth. With help from a small team of Bhutanese and American educators and media professionals, the riders will explore how to share their voice, and in the process reveal the experience and insights they gain and their resulting recommendations for climate change action.
Throughout their journey, the riders will use the written word, photographs, and short videos alongside social networking tools like multi-media blogs, Facebook, and Twitter to create a unique visual story-telling experience, one that allows viewers to be a part of the adventure as it unfolds.
Cycle to the Summit will weave this ‘live youth voices’ into the fabric of the film alongside the groups’ dynamic relationships with each other and the landscape, people, and culture of Bhutan. As the riders’ pave a road map for their own future, Cycle to the Summit will inspire others to contribute to climate change efforts in their own community and across the globe.
With your help, we can share this inspiring story by creating the Cycle to the Summit documentary film and a website featuring the voices of these young Bhutanese and US students
