this monday we are headed to tarrytown to share the feature, 25 minutes in length, with michael and chrystalle for the first time. we can't wait!
------------------------------------------------------------------
we spent a week with michael and chrystalle leading up to their wedding. the idea to approach their film like this was really inspired by how many people and how much thought goes into all of the details of a wedding, and so little of that happens on the wedding day. as image makers we are often tasked with covering everything we see in a 12 or so hour span, but are not all of the events leading up to that day possibly just as, if not more, relevant in many ways?
we followed michael and chrystalle through all of their journeys that week. making wedding favors at home, working out, picking up the tux, the flowers being made, rehearsals, and everything in between. it was over 4 days of non-stop action with 3-4 filmmakers covering so many different aspects of their story. thanks to krazy k, mark klassen, and drew renner for their help way back when in shooting this with me.
if your interested in seeing their same day edit and a longer write-up on their film, you can see that here:
as i put together the SDE, we thought it would be a fresh approach for quenna to tackle their trailer. here are her thoughts

michael + chrystalle's trailer was a tough one. after we created a whopping 25min feature (keep in mind ours are normally 12) from their week long wedding shoot, having to come up with a new storyline that wasn't already told was definitely a challenge.
this trailer was done in the true sense of the word only showing what needed to be shown to create intrigue, without giving anything away. i decided to focus on the details of the wedding preparations, all the hand made bits and pieces that came together to make michael + chrystalle's day what it was.
very little of their wedding day is shown, i wanted to build curiosity to make you wonder how it all turned out. another element that was intentionally hidden was chrystalle in her dress … in their main feature chrystalle explains the stress and great effort it took to find 'the one' (dress, not husband) .. hiding chrystalle as a bride also represents michael's anticipation during their first meeting as this was one part of the wedding process he did not have any control over and had no idea what to expect (and was also the most emotional during).
