A corporate video for the Singapore Centre for Chinese Language, Nanyang Technological University that is inspired by the Chinese phrase “十年树木,百年树人”. ( It takes ten years to grow a tree, but it takes a hundred years for one to develop into a well-learned individual )
The main motifs of the video- the newton's cradle and the brush strokes of the calligraphy, depicts the Centre's vision of becoming a " Centre of Excellence for the learning, teaching and educational research of the Chinese Language in a bilingual context".
The main theme for the video is "先研,后证,再教", where the Centre's mission is to " provide quality training in pedagogy and research, to enhance the learning of Chinese language and culture, and to establish Singapore's brand name in Chinese language teaching“.
Through the evolution of the Chinese characters and how the little girl learns in an outdoor classroom, we see the Centre's hands-on approach to education, where the process of pedagogical research gets substantiated before the knowledge (and culture) is passed on to the next generation.
