A christmas TV ad for LA EDITORIAL.
Made with Blender, Gimp and Inkscape.
I'd like to thank the people of the University of Westminster for their awesome grid.
We used that grid for rendering the ambient occlusion pass (which was the most time consuming part of the rendering). That let us focus in the animation of the contents of the book's pages without having to throw a 5 hours render each time :-)
This was a challenging work. First I had to find a proper rigging for the book pages. It sounded easy when I started, but soon I found a lot of problems (wrong deformations, mesh interpenetration, etc.)
It was a nice opportunity to experiment with particles and other things I never used before for a work.
The 2D animations of the pages wouldn't be possible without the help of the awesome script XCF Layers Suite from Alejando Omar Chocano Vasquez (Alex).
