The late afternoon sun beautifully displays the subtle colour variations in the Bourke's Parrot. These birds are a quiet, unassuming species, and I've probably walked past them before without knowing they were there. Luckily the pair I found were feeding on grass seeds on the side of the Alice Springs to Simpsons Gap bike trail, and I was able to follow them for quite some time.
