A sample movie from the Canon 5D Mark II.
The music used in the video is called "Last Night in L.A." is from my first album. Which is now available for free download on my website.
I wrote a review of the 5D Mark II here:

Excellent video featuring the capabilities of the 5D2 in experienced hands. Bravo... Thank you for sharing your vision and creativity. I'm still waiting for my 5D2 to arrive !!
Best Regards,
Ron
Thanks Ron. I'll be looking to do something a bit more complicated extremely soon.
I have lots of thoughts on the camera itself Bionicpix. I just finished the review, there's a link up top there.
Like Ron, I'm patiently (ok, maybe not so patiently) waiting for my 5D2 to arrive.
I'd like to hear more about your editing workflow as this could present a problem to some of us with older systems.
Also, how difficult is it to focus while shooting video?
I have a fairly good system and can edit natively on it. However, if you are on an older system your best bet would be to transcode the footage to another format you can edit in real time - then swap out the edl with the higher resolution material and render it out.
It's not terribly difficult to focus with the 3 inch screen, but if you want to lock critical focus I'd advise on purchasing an external monitor like the Ikon V8000HDMI or something like that.
If it will stream from the camera then I'd either hook it up to an external monitor or directly into an HDMI 1394 so that I could use Adobe OnLocation CS4.
Please let me know!
Check my stream for similar 5D test video.
Tom! I remember you for sure. I've seen you poking your head around the Red forums as well!
When I work I always dress to impress :)
I'm astonished. Soundtrack and picture!
Especially in last 40-60 sec.
However, I seem so notice some vignetting. Also the sky rendition in some scenes is not totally "clean" in my opinion. Comments?
To answer Vincent's question. The lenses used for this video are:
Canon 200mm f/2.8L
Canon 85mm f/1.2L
Canon 50mm f/1.2L
Canon 24mm f/1.2L
Sigam 14mm f/2.8
what a great lens u have..:)
The vignetting was done on purpose, on one shot I used my hand even to soften the edges.
tnx
1) what's the music?
2) what CF card(s) did you use to capture? Some say Sandisk III good enough..

Scott, good point. I'll be doing something more active. This was just my first test footage really.
crazed mule, 1. I just added that music info to the top there. The song is called "Last Night in L.A." from my first album DIN. I'm currently in production on my 2nd album. 2. I have used Sandisk IV 16gb and Lexar 300x 8gb cards with success. I don't have anything slower than those in my bag though. Sandisk III's are likely still good enough due to the data writing speed.

Katarzyna,
The sensor cleaning does indeed work well. I have seen a noticeable improvement on the 1Ds Mark III and the 5D Mar II with the sensor cleaning. That said, occasionally I still find a few dust bunnies. But I am pretty hard on my gear and I prefer shooting on primes. So I change my lenses a lot more than the average shooter.

My original upload file was also compress and optimized for web delivery. The actual footage looks even better. I have since exported a Blu-ray disc with some footage and have been impressed with the quality.
Also, just hooking up the camera to a HDTV via the HDMI looks pretty stunning as well.
I just plunked down for a 5D Mark II. I blame you and Laforet for getting me into this mess!

I don't really know of any other HDMI monitors though to really compare it to.
2spetses - Fireworks aren't the hardest thing in the world to shoot, so yes. Also, the low light capabilities of the camera will help you out. What I would do though is bring a flashlight and a sheet of paper to help lock the exposure. Otherwise the camera in a pitch black sky will go straight to ISO 3200, which for fireworks isn't really needed.
You were right. This camera is sweet! Now I just need some more glass:

thanks for your review/vid,

I was able to change the focus just using the ring and my hands. Steady hands and good tripod helped that. I do recommend utilizing a follow focus though if you need to do that under real production scenarios.
Oh & nice set of lenses there man!
