I was so happy to hear about this film. Lost Voices was so inspirational and I found it very moving & supportive. I shared it with family members and I think it helped them understand more what my life is like.

I've embedded the trailer on my blog, (thethingwithfeathers.me) along with a strong recommendation for the book (and the film when it's available) and will be sharing it on facebook & twitter ... and no doubt when it comes out, I'll be sharing the film with my friends & family too! :)

Thank you so much for all your work and the devotion I know is going into this project!

  • This trailer, Voices from the Shadows, depicts CFS/ME absolutely truthfully, both what the severest patients live with and how medical professionals have not responded, or responded horrifically to this illness. Sadly, in the very worst cases, sometimes even friends, neighbors and family follow the poor, misguided lead of the medical professionals. Luckily there are the few medical professionals who are our safe beacons and surely one day this illness will be understood by all. Thank you for making this trailer available on Vimeo. I will embed it on my author website for The Sound of a Wild Snail Eating. —Elisabeth Tova Bailey

I agree that much more must be done to uncover the disease etiology so we can get down to the business of treatment for the physical origin, but I don't think it's helpful to tar all of psychiatry. As someone with Multiple Sclerosis, I benefit greatly from a combination of both drugs and psychiatry, and sometimes I *do* need the latter more. Saying there is a psychological component is not the same as saying it's 'all in your head'. If it's neurological, well technically it *is*, and I'll not turn my nose up at anything that will provide evidence-based help. Specific ME/CFS drugs may be years away. In the meantime, isn't trying to improve a patient's mental well-being a worthwhile approach?
