Here is a 2 day long time-lapse of Clear Lake. Some of the segments are HDR. The score is Dave Brubeck's "Blue Rondo a la Turk".

I had some serious sensor dust issues with the mega sequence so it is anything but perfect... but there is some goodness in here and who knows when I will be able to get a 2 day sequence like this. Thanksgiving happens but once a year ; - )

some great sequences here Chad, and I love the HDR sunrises :)

Did you use a filter to get the star effect on the sun, and if so - which one ?

Nice work Chad and I never even noticed the dust bunnies (were there any) ;-)

Be well - that was from having a very small aperture it creates that star effect - fun way to add a twinkle to any shots of a light source.

thanks, I will have to give that a try sometime :)

THNX - we were listening to a fair amount of Dave Brubeck that weekend so it was something I had in mind while shooting.

Great work as always Chad. Didn"t notice any dust spots either...... you use Shake as I seem to remember... great for de-spotting.

This is just amazing! I recently purchased a Rebel XSI and I'm strongly interested in doing videos like this. Two questions, what is your exposure level for the night shot and what camera do you use? thanks!
  • Chad Richard plus 11 months ago
Sean I am using a Nikon D700 - night shots where at 3200 ISO at a mid to low aperture setting.

    Yes you can...

  • Hi, you don't appear to be too bothered about the sun burning your camera sensor. I did some sunrise shots a few years ago and basically ruined the 3CCD sensor. It created spots which would appear in almost all my footage.

I shot this with a DSLR actually...
  •
  • Ok. So is the sensor on a DSLR not susceptible to sunburn?
  • Chad Richard plus 6 months ago
CMOS sensors are supposedly not - and I would have probably had it happen by now (per your point)
  •
  • Absolutely you would have! With all those fantastic sunrises and sunsets. That's good to know as I've had some hesitation in doing lengthy sunrise/set shots with the 5DMKII. Thank you very much. :-)
