The Rutgers University Debate Union (RUDU) presents Parliamentary style debate rounds of Public Forum topics.
RUDU, one of the country's leading parliamentary debate teams, will debate each PF (high school) resolution in parli format to help illustrate the logic and rhetoric that can be employed on the topic. Parliamentary style is a longer format that relies on logic and persuasion instead of facts and evidence. While the research necessary for PF will not be included in these rounds, the arc of the argumentation should be invaluable in generating ideas for PF topics.
The first of the series is on the June 2011 (NFL Nationals) resolution, which is Resolved: That the United States should intervene in another nation's struggle for democracy.
Government (Pro) is represented by Gordon Morrisette and Ashley Novak, while Opposition (Con) is represented by Storey Clayton and David Reiss.
Morrisette, Novak, and Clayton will all be staffing the Scarlet Knight Public Forum Debate Camp in Piscataway, NJ this July and August.
