A remarkable occurence of hundreds - perhaps thousands - of small toads in Wanstead Park, Epping Forest.
These were piled into heaps on the bank at the west end of the Heronry Pond on the 31st May 2011. Some were making their way into the pond, where there were hundreds more visible on the surface of the water.
This was evidently a natural occurence - that is to say they hadn't been dumped there - and I'm uncertain whether this was for mutual protection, warmth or to stay moist.
