Very well done. Very glad to see this! This would be extremely useful for architects, especially for communicating their designs to clients. Will you be visiting Portland, OR anytime soon? I'd love to set you up to give a speech on this to the architecture community.

I have to say, it was an enjoyment watching this video, .. though the last minute fictionalize it a bit...
this might draw the question,.. how do u think such digital models could be constrained by physical realm ? meaning : for the 2d material/ drawings, there is always a screen,.. a boundry, a limit, a system to terminate the drawing and says where it does ends..

and this notion is even much more crucial in ur 3d proposal, in away as an example : the qtn of accidents for example.. maybe ur standing physically in front of a hand rail, the 3d model displayed it as a parapet , somebody rests on it and he might fall.. and so on and so on , for the classes model or rooms model, yes in the 3d sence it works, but how would phyiscally ppl interact? how will the circulation in corridors affect the noise and acoustics inside rooms ?

Ideally , the model proposed work really well, and i believe that such thesis are always refreshing ,.. i hope it will be pushed forward,.. discovering not its capabilities , rather , its limitations and its terminations .. Congrats for the fresh proposal.

This looks amazing. Have you by any chance read "Daemon" and "Freedom tm" by Daniel Suarez? If not, you might want to consider. Your concepts kind of reminded me of the fiction the author creates in his two books.

Indeed: I thought about those two books and all of the novels and short stories by William Gibson, particularly Idoru

Great work and ideas Greg. Care to share the tools/process of creating this video? Hybrid Max/After Affects? What were some of the challenges in creating a moving/living environment that seems to be in constant motion?
  • Greg Tran plus 5 months ago
You guessed it! Those plus some matchmoving and rotoscoping.
Showing one idea at a time was somewhat straightforward, but there's a huge challenge in illustrating a multiplicity of effects/perspectives at once. It was helpful to lay out some ground rules and follow lots of constraints, otherwise i'd get a bit sidetracked. Thanks for the question!

Great work, Greg! Other than human nature, and the resistance to change, what are obstacles you see in making this reality? How long until we starting seeing this come to fruition?
