Depth of Speed was born from a desire of story, travel, and a love of anything automotive related. Next year my wife and I will be taking to the streets to uncover and document the greatest stories from the automotive world. From coast-to-coast and from top to bottom, finding the best stories will take the highest priority. Every time I meet someone new or attend an event I amazed at the depth, passion, and love that the automotive world brings. Depth of Speed is just that, an in-depth look at these stories. There is something about motors and machines, that to an outsider looking in, would make us seem plain crazy.

We have begun the process of outfitting our trusty Scamp trailer to traverse the entire country. Known affectionately as a fiberglass egg, our Scamp will be our home for one year of our lives. At only 13 feet long it will make for a cozy year.

Episode two of Depth of Speed takes us to pinstriping shop of Andy Kawahara. Known succinctly as Andy's Pinstriping, his craft is a true unification of art and automotive. Josh Clason speaks with Andy regarding why he loves pinstriping and how the old crowd has embraced the artform. While most will unanimously agree, the art of pinstriping much like sign painting is a dying breed due to the vinyl industry but with that comes glimmers of hope.

Come to Cincinnati and met Len down at Auto Bahn Craftwerks and hear his stories of racing at Bonneville, restoring old bikes, etc. Before he passes into the big garage in the sky. And the Cincinnati Cafe Racers will help you film some cool local scenes/rides.

First, this video was one of the most inspirational that I ever see.
This is so special, I really felt identified with this because most of my people don't know the old's school way to do something they just put "vinyl" in their life and that's all... I prefer "paint" my life.
I have 18 years old and I feel like this is not my epoch, practically I have memories of 50's.

wonderful! my father is a traditional sign painter who started his business just before i was born. i've watched the art slowly die from as close as you can be to it without being a part of it. hopefully films like this will inspire a new respect for (and maybe some new practitioners of) an art form that may be lost in another few generations.

This is really awesome, but it is it out of focus? It's bothering me a bit
