The Story of the Sceptre by Alvin Okami
Alvin Okami of KoAloha Ukulele "talks story" with me and shares the story of how he created the KoAloha Sceptre.
Filmmaker Gary San Angel salvaged this lost footage captured in September of 2007. This oral history interview became the seeds of the animated film, "The KoAloha Ukulele Story" created by San Angel and animator Rocky Kev.
The audio was recorded using a Sound Devices SD 722 and original footage was shot on an HVX-200 with a Redrock micro adapter and Nikon 50mm lens.
The piece captures the significant brilliance in sound volume between the KoAloha Sceptre and the KoAloha Pineapple Sunday. Both ukuleles are part of Papa KoAloha's masterpiece collection.
