Statistics show that 40% of people on the kidney and liver transplant waiting lists are from black and Asian communities, whilst only 3% of donors come from the same communities. Making up 8% of the population of the UK, the contrast between the need for organs and their availability is stark.
Live Life Then Give Life created this DVD for a Divali event to illustrate the importance of everyone in the UK signing up to the Organ Donor Register ( http:uktransplant.org.uk ) to help us save the lives of children like Ubaid and countless others who are dying every year on the waiting lists.
The video features Live Life Then Give Life Advocate Nehal Shah and her parents and sister, as well as Nyila Parveen and Zulfiqar Ali, parents of 15-month-old Ubaid who died in August 2008.
