a microproject by undef and Joshua Noble

The receipt racer combines different in and output devices into a complete game. It was made during the "Let's feed the future workshop", part of the OFFF Festival in Barcelona on June 8th 2011.

I grew up on Atari's Night Driver and my first job was testing tills at ICL, so this feels like confused nostalgia for me.

This is such an amazing project, a perfect combination of game and art. I really want to play it myself.
FWIW I think the wasted paper is an excellent commentary on the ecological impact of real cars.
  •
  • Come on. If we stop wasting paper how would we make toiled paper or hot coffee cup holders? Besides, I wouldn't be surprised if receipt paper already contains at least 50% bleached recycled paper. So, waste although some, isn't as significant as you might think.

Awesome! Nothing is wasted in the pursuit of creation. People that complain about wasted paper should have their artist privileges revoked. That sort of comment is a deep criticism of this project that I for one, do not appreciate.

It's cool and all but, what a waste of paper.

Nice, exploring the lines between physical and physics!
All people screaming waste of paper should look at that own consumption, or better yet that of the world, so much paper is being used for much less applicable uses compared to this. And maybe most of thhis receipt paper is recycled already.
