Cpl John Richard Kemper was killed in action in Vietnam 43 years ago to the day this ceremony was held for his parents.
He was 19 years old and had only been in country a few weeks when his unit, 101st Airborne, came under enemy fire. Cpl. Kemper was awarded the Silver Star posthumously for his actions that day.
His now 88-year old parents never knew the full story until this ceremony, when they were united with two members of their son's unit.
The Ohio Patriot Guard Riders were honored to be invited to stand from Cpl Kemper, a true American Hero.
