Based on a surrealist poem I had written about a fictional relationship, wherein the name Tea & Roses belies the brewing violence beneath.
Created during my studies at Filmmakers during 1986-87. Filmed with Super 8 and on location at what is now know as The Brew House Association. Before it became a non-profit organization, it already housed live/work spaces for artists.
Photographer Curtis Reaves, not only introduced me to the working artist scene in Pittsburgh at that time, but he also allowed for me to use his loft as the setting for this film.
In the film is my sister and fellow student, Joe Kelly. I believe Joe and I functioned as mutual muses, pushing each other to the limits of symbolic imagery. Joe, rest in peace, you are missed by many.
