Robots of Brixton
Brixton has degenerated into a disregarded area inhabited by London's new robot workforce - robots built and designed to carry out all of the tasks which humans are no longer inclined to do. The mechanical population of Brixton has rocketed, resulting in unplanned, cheap and quick additions to the skyline.
The film follows the trials and tribulations of young robots surviving at the sharp end of inner city life, living the predictable existence of a populous hemmed in by poverty, disillusionment and mass unemployment. When the Police invade the one space which the robots can call their own, the fierce and strained relationship between the two sides explodes into an outbreak of violence echoing that of 1981.

This was my final project in my Masters degree in Architecture. It was born from me exploring my relationship with race, class and architecture. I am from the area and I see the Brixton riots of 1981 indirectly a key driver into me going too uni and becoming/ an architect. So i wanted to retell the story with a Sci-fi twist without the associated 'baggage' of being a young black Londoner.
Tech wise, I did all the animation, modelling and CGI in 3DSMAX, compositing in After Effects. Filming on a cannon 7D, and tracking with PFtrack. I got help with the sound from the talented Mr Bennacer and DJ Hiatus... And that's it...

Fantastic short by the way! Deep, fascinating, a reminder of history.
Barcelona BlogginG!
I grew up in Brixton, now in Herne Hill. The riots were just before my time though.
Having worked in a VFX house I understand what goes into making a film like this. My hat is off to you. Congrats. it's a fine piece of work! Love the surreal trip. Closing shots are ace. The dub inspired music and audio is fantastic.
Tweeted and shared!
Then, the typography, the faces, the typefaces.
Smart yet dusty world, finished with a hint of climate with the flowing tarpaulin: that I find so special.
Chesterfield sofas, the close up on the robot eye; wow...
I'm in awe.
Shout out to the sound guys, that was stunning on a 5.1 headseat.
Blew me away, all of it.
Congrats and succes with your future ideas.

is good, I like it, but it need a bit of work, arms going through the couch, feet slipping and a few other details. in general is good, needs some fixes.
THanks
only moved to Brix in '82 and I seen a massive change and some of it not for the better.
