Legacy Good Samaritan Hospital was the first in Portland to operate two da Vinci® robots and the first to offer the advantage of high definition visuals. As a result, we have the highest volume of da Vinci® surgeries in Oregon and southwest Washington, with correspondingly positive outcomes.
Legacy Prostate Cancer Center performed its first robot-assisted prostatectomy on 10/2/06, and with each surgery we improve our quality indicators. Over the last year alone we have decreased our prostatectomy patients' average length of stay by 35%. Additionally, out of all cases in 2007 and 2008 (491), only 1 patient was readmitted for a post-operative infection.
