December 12, 2008 This is a fairly typical example of Fires Creek in Nantahala National Forest, North Carolina. I portaged this one due to that nasty log just downstream of a hole. Note also the previously chainsawed log in the entrance, and the additional log in the run out downstream. There is a lot of wood in Fires Creek.
