On June 4, 2011 hundreds of Veteran's Appreciation Day volunteers sought to “wake people up’’ with a massive display of patriotism that included a military parade through the town of Swampscott, celebrating area veterans of every generation and every military branch. It was followed by a field day at Swampscott High School that featured demonstrations and displays, including military vehicles, music, and other activities.
