Shot on Sony PMW-EX3 with LetusExtreme on a Nikkor AIs 35mm 1:1.4 (stopped down to f 4.0). No color correction. The light was done with a self made light panel. Reflecting ground plate with 12 x 23 watt CFL bulbs (Philips Tornado Turbo Energy Saver) and one with 5 x 20 watt. This is just to show, what (even self made) light can do. With the 12 x 23w you get a light equivalent of 12 x 150w conventional light (= about 1800w) on any plug in any household. The light is at about 5000k (which is the sweet color spot on this camera).

Thanks for the pics. I've been thinking about building something like this. Do you use it open face, or shine it through some sort of diffusion?

    Usually i use a diffusion. 1-stop neutral.

Stefan, great results with that lighting, I like the very clean shot and out of focus background. We have all sorts of f1.4 lenses for our Letus but is there much sense to go for these more expensive lenses if we stop them down to f4? Clearly the optical performance is much better at f4 than at f1.4.

Actually I don't see much difference between my 1.4s and the cheaper lenses. I think the over all condition of a lens is more important. And of course there are lenses out there that simply don't work. Just get around these and You'll be fine.

That's an awesome DIY solution! did you use any other diffusion on the front of it? How long did it take to make your "home lite-panel?"

Hey Chad, sorry for the late answer - Vimeo is not notifying anymore. Well it took me about 2 hours to build it.
