As has been tradition for over one hundred years at Ashley Hall, an all-girls preparatory school in historic downtown Charleston, South Carolina, the graduating senior class processed through the columns of the antebellum McBee House to accept their diplomas beneath magnolias and before family and friends.
Twenty-nine young women, each wearing a long white dress and carrying twelve long-stemmed red roses, took their first steps towards exceptionally bright futures during one breathtakingly beautiful ritual.
Congratulations, class of 2011, you have now been officially sent on your way. May you remember always the motto of your alma mater: Possunt Quae Volunt--the girls who have the will have the ability.
