Hello, and thank you for taking the time to watch this video.
In essence, this is a conceptual, speculative trailer into Mass Effect 3.
If you would like to get a high bit rate encoded version of this material, go here archive.org/details/MassEffect-Anger
This material was originally intended as an entry into femshep.com 's video contest on June 13th, 2011. Unfortunately, real life circumstances delayed this entry.
Yes, I don't quite fancy the trailer genre a lot, but I believed this would be a good contribution for the FemShep character.
It starts from the events depicted in arrival. What little theme there is, is loosely based around earth, Shepard's status on said planet, and the squadmates that as of now are known to be in the game.
The main soundtrack is originally a part of the OST for the for the visual Novel "Deliberate Distortion: Synesthesia", composed by the very talented Daikirai in Ukraine. I simply remixed the track to more or less make it fit with the orchestra genre, and therefore the production's requirements.
The speculative scenes were generated using a combination of DirectX API hooking for green screening, and equirectangular panorama shots from various authors in many locations around the world.
The techniques used in this video include:
- DirectX green screening.
- Spherical projections of equirectangular panoramas.
- Color correction.
- Time stretching.
- DSLR video shooting (for the "wanted" sign).
Ok so that's all I can formally say. Honestly, at this point in time, I realize that:
- Creating original video concepts out of prerendered footage IS still difficult. I'm referring specifically to the edited cinematic scenes from Mass Effect 2, and for that matter, any video source in general.
- Therefore, I believe this to be the reason for which I'm not able to come up with practical ideas for videos like these. I had envisioned more scenes and concepts in my mind. Sadly, since I have limited time, technology and resources available, this is the best realization of what I initially saw inside my head.
