Pastor John Morgan uses the example of Abraham on this Father’s Day. Abraham was the physical father of the Jewish and Arab nations as well of the spiritual father of the Jews and Gentiles. God’s plan for Abraham and for fathers today is to be a father because He gave you children. God was not impressed by Abraham’s goodness; it was the fact that he received the gift of righteousness by faith. God showed an old man the stars and said that he would have more children than the stars. This was the first time that the doctrine of justification by faith was set forth in scripture. Today, dads are bankrupt spiritually. Since morals usually dictate theology, the value system of the father will be picked up by his children. So what do you want your children to believe – what you think or the scripture? When the salvation issue is settled, the promises of the scripture are yours to receive and practice, and they make you eligible to receive all the promises of the Bible. What would happen if every man would invite Jesus to be the Lord of their life, home, business, social life, finances, body, mind and knowledge?
