so well done. the music, the imagery, the blackness and the black and whiteness. what are the prelinger archives?
  • Tallulah 2 years ago
Thank you! The Prelinger Archives are a collection of thousands of digitalized industrial, educational, travel, propaganda and other short films from 1903 to the 1970s available for download at archive.org/details/prelinger.

These clips are so rich and filled from corner to corner with activity. Iver watched it many times now. the cinimatography is so well done. each frame is perfectly placed. I love the crossing parralell lines whenhe is on the steps at the end, The fog of life going on in the back ground. The endless stories of each and every person in the background. The so dated 70's feel that comes across so powerfully. THe perfect choice in music. I can't say enough. NICE!

I wish I could take credit for the cinematography, but all I did was EDIT the footage to create a video that would fit the music.

    More great work, Tallulah.

I am really loving all of your musical choices. I might have to demand that you make me a mix cd. :-)

Thank you, Jay! I would love to make you a mix cd -- but only if you would make one in return!

    what a fantastic find. Bravo.
what is the context of the original material?
  • Tallulah 2 years ago
The footage had no sound, but I'm pretty sure it has an anti-drug message. This was a preliminary edit -- I'm working on using the rest of the footage to make a longer feature.

That was great, it's always fascinating to watch Prelinger footage, and you fit it perfectly to the song.

I'm just wondering why you repeated the clips in the beginning and the end? Wasn't there enough footage?
  • Tallulah 2 years ago
Thanks! This was a preliminary edit of a pretty good amount of original footage. I chose to repeat the "running clip" at the end because I'm lazy and wanted to finish the clip. I am still sorting through the rest of the footage and plan on doing something else with it soon.

I think your laziness actually made the piece work the endless message of running for or because of desparation hits home more fully...repetion being one of the main devices of propoganda...cool
